Lisa is our resident Osteopath at Ealing Fitness Clinic and operates her business, Osteopath West, along with her Associate Osteopath, Jeremy Jones-Bateman.
Setting up Osteopath West in 2010, after completing her Masters at the University College of Osteopathy in London, Lisa originally operated out of Bodyline Fitness, just two doors down from her new home in Ealing Fitness Clinic in Springbridge Mews, W5. Both Bodyline Fitness and Ealing Fitness Clinic are owned and run by Roy Summers, who Lisa first met when they were both Personal Trainers at Holmes Place (Ealing) back in 2000!
This year Lisa has continued to develop her Osteopathy business by working with IDD Therapy and installed one of their therapy machines in her clinic to offer effective and innovative treatment for back pain, sciatica and disc issues
So, that’s where Lisa is today. but did you know that in a previous life she was a high level international athlete………..
In 1991 Lisa was the first female Squash Player to win the British Open for 30 Years and went on to be the World Number One Female Squash Player. During her Squash playing career one of Lisa’s greatest highlights was being a member of the England national team that defeated Australia in Sydney to become World Champions. Originally from Guernsey, Lisa has a heritage of high-level sport as her Mum played table-tennis at a high level and represented Guernsey at the Commonwealth Games!
All these amazing achievements resulted in Lisa receiving an MBE at the end of her playing career, which was awarded to her at Buckingham Palace by Prince Phillip.
Her interest in physical therapy came after retiring from 20 years of high-level competitive squash due to persistent low back pain, initially completing a qualification in sport massage and personal training, followed by a degree in sport injury rehab before embarking on her 4-year Masters degree in Osteopathy.
With her background as an International squash professional, Lisa’s special interest is not only in treating long-term back pain sufferers but also in sport injury. Years of competing on the world squash tour has enabled Lisa to have a greater understanding of, and empathy with, patients wanting to return to their sporting activities, whatever the level.
These days Lisa keeps in shape by cycling and swimming, taking part in regular events including Ride London 100 mile cycle for charity in 2018 and open water swimming, which she is particularly passionate about, entering an Osteopath West relay team into half and full Ironman distant triathlons each summer.
Ealing Fitness Clinic and Osteopath West work well as a multidisciplinary team with Lisa & Jeremy being qualified to assess, diagnose and treat their patients, refer outside to a specialist or in house to one of our rehab/core strength & conditioning trainers, sport massage therapists or acupuncturist.
